Better Running HO Scale Trains

Posted on April - 27 - 2015

It is my expectation that you are here because you want better running HO scale trains. You’ve come to the right place. I re-started in the HO scale train hobby just a couple years ago. When I was growing up in the 60’s and 70’s, my dad introduced me to some HO trains, but I never went farther than that introduction until recently. Having watched the computer and consumer electronics markets expand, evolve and explode, I was not surprised at the changes in the HO train hobby (primarily in the locomotive and track control aspects). Based on my experience and interests, I want to share what I’ve learned and, hopefully, continue to learn from my readers. This site will focus on the following things:

  1. Tips, tricks and advice for DC (Direct Current or analog) locomotive maintenance, modification and repair;
  2. Tips, tricks and advice for DCC (Digital Command Control) locomotive maintenance, modification and repair;
  3. Guidance on DC to DCC locomotive conversion;
  4. Guidance on using LED lighting in both DC and DCC applications;
  5. Guidance on locomotive and rolling stock weathering;
  6. A tip or two on how to improve rolling stock; and
  7. Offer some unique or custom products for sale in my store.

Videos and articles on this site may be produced by me based on my maintenance, repair, conversion, or weathering experience. Other articles or videos may be links from sites where I have found good advice to solve problems I have come across. There are many good explanatory videos and informational articles on the internet and I will attempt to make those available on or through this site. My hope is to build this site into a resource for many HO scale locomotive tinkerers. Please let me know what you think and how I can improve the site for my target audience(s).
